HOSPICE AIDE
The Homestead Hospice Aides provide personal care to patients in their homes under the general direction of
registered nurse. This care can be given in the patient's own home or provided in other facilities, such as
personal care homes, assisted living facilities or skilled nursing homes. Many times, the hospice aide spends the
most direct patient care time with the patient and the family and can contribute very beneficial information to the
team during the development and update of the patient plan of care.
Roles and responsibilities of the Hospice Aide
Our certified nursing aides perform several tasks. These may include, bathing, dressing grooming, wound care,
light housekeeping, etc., based on individual needs and the written instructions of the registered nurse.
At Homestead Hospice, we recognize the positive impact that having a hospice aide can provide. We proactively
look for reasons why a patient might need the extra care of our hospice aides so that we can be of assistance as
often as possible, based on those needs.
